Well, at this point, there isn’t a whole lot I can do to actively prepare for weight loss surgery, other than watch my diet and exercise. But I decided to get some items to set aside for later.
Here are the items I picked up tonight.
For mixing up the protein drinks and pureeing foods, I got the Magic Bullet:
I went to Bed Bath and Beyond in search of small cups and spoons, and hit the jackpot with the Libbey “Just Tasting” appetizer serving dishes. The line consists of petite cups, bowls, plates in both ceramic and glass forms, small wine glasses and dessert dishes, and spoons. Perfect, if you ask me, for making small portions seem worthwhile. The ones I got:
I tried making my first protein powder drink with the magic bullet and it SUCKED. The texture was great from the bullet, but the taste was horrible. I used a scoop of Body Fortress Vanilla Whey Protein Powder (from Walmart), some frozen raspberries, water, ice, and a splash of milk. I could get it down, but an overwhelming aftertaste. Eww. I also tried a new Whey protein bullet today. Well, a few sips anyway. Those aren’t great either, I tried a grape flavored one. I can see taken in small sips I could get it down. I also bought the store brand whey protein powder from Target — does it suck too, before I open it? Or is this as good as it gets? I see many other brands recommended, particularly Nectar, but was curious if I could get by with a more reasonably priced option. Are the other brands really that much better?
